Migration

Moving your online store: what to prepare before migration

Prepare product exports, original images, category lists, and a URL inventory before moving your store to another platform.

Make an inventory before changing anything

List the parts of your existing store that you need to keep: products, categories, images, pages, orders, customer records, and website addresses. Note which features come from separate apps or integrations. A migration is easier to scope when both sides know what exists and which parts the new platform can support.

Keep a backup of the original information

Export the data your current platform allows you to export and keep an untouched copy. Save your original product photographs separately from thumbnails. Check that exported files contain the fields you expect, particularly product options and prices. Do not cancel your old service before you have checked the new store and retained the records you need.

Check what can actually be transferred

Different platforms structure options, stock, customers, and orders differently. Agree on a field-by-field mapping rather than assuming every feature has a direct equivalent. Customer passwords and payment details should not be treated as ordinary product data. Discuss a secure process for any customer information and share only what is necessary for the agreed work.

Record your existing page addresses

Keep a list of important product, category, and information-page URLs. Compare them with the proposed new addresses. Ask whether redirects can be configured and tested for each changed page. Do not assume a domain move automatically preserves links to every product. Check navigation, internal links, and any links used in advertising or social profiles.

Review a sample before the full move

Start by reviewing a few representative products, including one with options and one with several images. Compare names, prices, categories, images, and stock with the original. Test mobile layouts and the cart. Keep a list of exceptions that need manual work so they are not lost during the final review.

Storevia migration assistance

Free store migration is offered for Grow and Scale accounts. Confirm the source platform, required data, supported fields, and timing with the team before starting. This is assisted migration, not a claim that every external app or feature can be copied automatically. Storevia payment processing and email delivery are currently disabled, so include those limitations in your launch planning.
